Snehal Batra, Esq., joins the Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County Board of Trustees

Ms. Batra is a Managing Attorney at NPZ Law Group, PC, located in Raritan, NJ and an immigration attorney licensed in New Jersey since 2001. Snehal earned a Juris Doctorate (JD) from Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, NJ and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with Honors in Political Science from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 2001, a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and is also Chair of the Immigration Law Section of the Somerset County Bar Association. Snehal is also an active member of the Branchburg Rotary.

Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County (LVSC) is a non-profit organization which provides free literacy instruction to adults who struggle to read, write and communicate in English. Through a network of trained volunteers, LVSC serves more than 300 students every year. Services include one-to-one tutoring, English conversation groups, and U.S. citizenship preparation support. Because each student’s goals are unique, lesson plans are student-centered and focused on the student’s every day needs. Throughout the pandemic, all services have been offered virtually.

Snehal is an Indian-American attorney with a passion for immigration law which derives from being an immigrant herself. Having immigrated to the U.S. as a child, Snehal understands firsthand the many difficulties and challenges that immigrants commonly experience while engaged in the U.S. immigration process. She says, “I am excited to join the LVSC Board as we have many common synergies. My desire is to carry out the board’s mission to assist individuals effectively communicate in English so they can participate fully and engage in our community.”

Snehal is fluent in Gujarati. She is married to her law school sweetheart, Rajiv Batra, and they have two daughters and a dachshund named Juno. LVSC is thrilled to welcome Snehal to the Board.
