Starting January 6, 2025, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection will adjust hours of service at 35 ports of entry across Canada. The changes, aimed at enhancing security and improving efficiency, were made collaboratively between the two countries based on operational analysis and peak travel times.
Affected ports include locations in:
- Manitoba,
- Quebec,
- Saskatchewan,
- New Brunswick,
- British Columbia,
- and Alberta,
with some reducing open hours by up to five hours. Travelers will have alternative crossing options within 100 kilometers. The updated hours will also help optimize resources for enforcement and processing at busier border crossings.
CBSA confirmed these changes are unrelated to Donald Trump’s recent election and were planned over several months.
