On August 26, 2024, a federal judge in Texas temporarily halted the “Keeping Families Together” (KFT) parole in place process, which aimed to protect undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens from deportation and provide them with a pathway to lawful permanent residency. While applications for KFT are still being accepted, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has paused the processing of these applications and canceled scheduled biometrics appointments. The lawsuit challenging the KFT process does not affect D-3 waivers for Dreamers and DACA recipients.
