Israel Joins U.S. Visa Waiver Program: Strengthening Ties and Easing Travel

Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro N. Mayorkas, and Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken, have announced the inclusion of Israel in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). This allows Israeli citizens to travel to the U.S. for up to 90 days for tourism or business without a visa, starting from November 30, 2023. The move aims to enhance ties and collaboration on security, economy, and people-to-people engagement between the two nations. Israel has met stringent requirements to join the VWP and reciprocated the visa-free privilege to all U.S. citizens, regardless of their origin, religion, or ethnicity. The U.S. government will continue monitoring Israel’s compliance with VWP requirements. Israeli citizens can apply online through ESTA for travel authorization, which is typically valid for two years.
