EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW TO APPLY FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE – #155

On July 8, 2020, The Minister of Citizenship and Immigration resumed invitations to apply to Federal Skilled Worker Program under the Express Entry system, after a gap of nearly four months, which is a great news!

This draw has issued 3,900 Invitation to Apply (“ITA”) for Permanent Residence with the minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score (“CRS”) of 478, increase by seven points from the previous CRS draw held on March 4th 2020, which had a minimum score of 471.

Express Entry is Canada’s flagship application management system for the following economic immigration categories: Federal Skilled Worker Program (“FSWP”), Federal Skilled Trades Program (“FSTP”), Canadian Experience Class, and a portion of the Provincial Nominee Program. Since the pandemic, Express Entry draws were limited to Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program. Both, FSWP and FSTP were suspended in anticipation of travel ban and health concerns.

Individuals who meet the eligibility criteria for at least one of these programs are placed in the Express Entry pool and are assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on the information in their profile compared to a transparent scoring criterion, including factors such as education, language ability, and work experience. Candidates in the pool are ranked against one another based on their CRS score. Every few weeks, a Ministerial Instruction is published specifying the number of invitations to apply (ITA) for permanent residence that will be sent to candidates in the Express Entry pool on a specific date.
