Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan – 2022-2024

The Government of Canada announced the Immigration Levels Plan – 2022-2024, aiming to strengthen the communities and industries that rely on immigration. The Plan targets to admit 1.14% of Canadian population by 2024, with nearly 60% of admissions in the Economic class. The Plan ambitiously aims to welcome 431,645 permanent residents in 2022, 447,055 in 2023 and 451,000 in 2024.

What does the Levels Plan mean to you and me? The Plan reflects Government’s intend to fill critical labor market gaps and support strong economy in to the future. As reflected, the Provincial Nominee Program will target 83,500 immigrants in 2022, increased to 93,000 in 2024. The Express Entry system, which includes Foreign Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Program, will be targeting 55,900 immigrants in 2022, gradually increasing to 75,750 in 2023 and 111,500 in 2024. The Plan also indicates to reopen the temporary resident to permanent resident pathway, targeting 40,000 immigrants in 2022 and 32,000 by 2023.

The Family class will be targeting 80,000 immigrants under Spouses, Partners and Children Program and 25,000 under Parents and Grandparents Program, in the year 2022, growing to 81,000 and 32,000 respectively, by 2024.
