FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ridgewood, NJ and July 30, 2024 – The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the second random selection of H-1B cap registrations for the fiscal year (FY) 2025. This selection follows the initial round conducted in March, which included beneficiaries eligible for the advanced degree exemption. The first round allowed petitioners with selected registrations to file H-1B cap-subject petitions from April 1 through June 30, 2024.
Additional Selection for Regular Cap Needed
USCIS has determined that additional registrations are needed to meet the FY 2025 regular cap numerical allocation. Therefore, a second random selection will be conducted, targeting unique beneficiaries from previously submitted electronic registrations. This process will use the same random selection method as before, and successful registrants will be notified through their USCIS online accounts.
No Second Selection for Advanced Degree Exemption
USCIS has confirmed that there will be no second selection for the advanced degree exemption (master’s cap) since enough registrations and subsequent petitions have been received to meet the FY 2025 numerical allocation for this category.
Next Steps for Selected Registrations
Selected registrations from this second round will receive a notification detailing the filing period and instructions. Petitioners should monitor their USCIS online accounts for updates and selection notices, which will provide the necessary information for filing H-1B cap-subject petitions.
