2019年6月4日、移民ビザ関連で違法な詐欺が行われていると注意喚起がありました。
発信の電話番号は、厄介なことに正規の税関国境保護(CBP)電話番号（802-872-6050と240-542-4478の両方）が表示されます。

発信者は電話を受けたビザ申請者に対してForm AR-11(住所変更をUSCISに報告するために使用される書類）を提出していないと主張してきます。申請者がすでにその書類に記入していると返答した場合、詐欺師は書類の更新があったとさらに主張してきます。
エスカレートすると、申込者とその家族に対する訴訟を脅してきます。ある報告によると、申請者は詐欺師に弁護士に電話する必要があると話したところ、それに対して法的措置を脅迫し始めた例もあります。

詐欺事件を解決するために連絡をしたと主張するCBPと同じ電話番号からかかってくる詐欺報告もあります。

この電話は詐欺のようには思えないかもしれませんが、詐欺師は申請者にギフトカードを購入するよう依頼します。

これは詐欺師がよく使う手口です。特に電話を受けた人が詐欺師の望んだ方法で対応しない場合は、電話が繰り返しかけられることもあるようです。また警察があなたを調べるなどと脅すかもしれませんが、これも彼らの手口です。
ビザ申請者は悪いことは一切していないし、必要な全ての書類は提出したとして心配する必要はありません。
