2021年10月15日、ホワイトハウスの公式Twitterでは、11月8日から米国は新しい旅行ポリシーを実施すると発表しました。 これに伴い、外国人はワクチン接種をしている場合に限り、米国への入国が許可されます。（ ワクチン接種の要件には例外もあります。） 陸路と空路、どちらの方法での入国でも渡航禁止令が解除されることになります。

Johnson and Johnson、Moderna、Pfizer、BioNTechのワクチンは、米国食品医薬品局（FDA）によって承認されており、 緊急での使用が承認されているワクチンには、Sinopharm、Sinovac、AstraZeneca、インドの研究所が製造したワクチンが含まれます。

海外からの旅行者は、飛行機に搭乗する前に、ワクチン接種済の証拠とコロナ検査の陰性を示す必要があります。 一方、陸路で入国する旅行者は、コロナの陰性検査を受けた証拠を提示する必要はありません。

渡航禁止令は、2020年3月のコロナの開始時にトランプ政権によってはじまりました。 対象国は、中国、イラン、ブラジル、南アフリカ、欧州連合の26か国、英国、アイルランドです。カナダとメキシコも渡航が必須な旅行者以外の入国を禁止していましたが、今週の初めに、これが緩和されることを発表しました。
