2019年11月8日、アメリカ国土安全保障省は2020年度のH-1Bビザの電子登録について公表しました。新しい登録方法は、2020年4月1日の締め切りまでに10ドルの登録料が必要になります。理由は、H-1Bビザの抽選を行うことでH-1Bビザ申請をUSCISに提出する前に申請者が条件に満たされているかどうか事前に知ることができるからです。

もう1つの変更点として、H1Bビザを取得できる修士号取得者(大学院卒業した人)の人数を増やすことを目指し、抽選の仕方に変更があります。
2019年11月4日、USCISのケン・クッチネリ氏は、USCISが2020年度H-1Bビザに向けて準備が整った時に「年内には」正式に発表すると言いました。H-1Bビザの電子登録プロセスはまだベータテスト中であり、現在は利用不可能です。今後2020年度のH-1Bビザ登録プログラムの実施を再び一時停止する可能性がありますが、移民法事務所は、新しいH-1B登録プログラムが完全に実施されるという前提の下で、雇用主に手続きを進めることを勧めています。
