Introduction of Updated Form N-400 for Naturalization Applications

Starting April 1, 2024, the USCIS is set to introduce an updated version of Form N-400, the Application for Naturalization, aligning with the new fee rule. This revised form will feature significant changes, including the addition of a gender X option to acknowledge diverse gender identities, while also eliminating various other fields. Applicants working on the current version of Form N-400 online must submit their application by March 31, 2024, to avoid losing their progress. Post April 1, any in-progress online drafts will be deleted, necessitating a restart with the updated form version for both online and paper filings. The updated paper Form N-400 will be accessible on the USCIS website from April 1, with only the new edition accepted for paper filings starting June 3, 2024. For detailed information and guidance, applicants are encouraged to visit the Form N-400, Application for Naturalization page on the USCIS website.
