In an effort to address some of its most glaring backlogs, the USCIS is opening a new service center called the HART Service Center. This facility, which will eventually operate fully remotely, will handle Humanitarian, Adjustments, Removing Conditions, and Travel Documents cases. CBP announced that all Visa Waiver Program travelers intending to enter the United States by land will now have the same requirements as those traveling by air and sea. Beginning Oct. 1, 2022, in accordance with an Interim Final Rule (IFR), travelers entering the United States, whether by land, sea, or air will now be required to obtain an approved ESTA authorization. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas, in coordination with Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, designated Croatia as a new participant in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Starting no later than December 1, 2021, the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) will be updated to allow citizens and nationals of Croatia to apply to travel to the United States for tourism or business for up to 90 days without obtaining a U.S. visa. Croatia’s designation as a participant in the VWP is an important step toward further strengthening long-standing economic and security cooperation between the United States and Croatia.
