• USCIS says it will run out of money this summer. USCIS has requested $1.2 billion in emergency funding, and, it's asking Congress to approve a 10% surcharge on application fees as part of that funding.
o Remember, USCIS operates on fees it collects.
• if USCIS doesn't receive emergency funding, it projects revenue to drop 61% for the fiscal year and they would need to take steps this summer to remain operational.
